The border between America and Mexico has been the center of debates during most of America’s history, especially now. There has been a definite spike in illegal crossings every since Trump took office. However, it was not always like this. Around 2017, immigration was a all time low. Every administration since Clinton has worked very hard to fix the border, but they never made it a main talking point. On the other hand, walk into a Trump rally and you can immediately see what main issue Trump has decided to take on.
Even with all of the talk about the border, today the border is in serious trouble. There has been a influx of immigrants coming from Central America, that is putting the massive strain on the already bolstered border control. Camps have become full, resources have become scarese, and some children are even dying. How can this happen all the sudden and why is the reaction to this threat taking so long. I know almost every dam dem say this but, blame the wall.
Firstly, there is a reason why millions of people have decided to come over the border now. It’s because they feel like this is their last chance to get into the United States before measures are taken so they can’t cross, for example a concrete wall. Why would they want to come to a country where everyone is so against them? It’s because the situation is Central America is getting so bad that the people there are willing to trek across Mexico to get into the United States.
Some may ask, why is the government not putting in additional funds to increase capacity and increase the speed of processing. Well, the wall is the answer to that. Why is that? That is because the wall is taking over headlines across the nations. Politicians are detracted with either stopping the wall at all costs or getting the wall built at all costs. With all of this attention to the wall, other immigration policies and infrastructure cannot be built. And the immigrants suffer as a result. Now, I’m not saying that you have to like the immigrants, but as an American. I don’t think we should be putting anyone into overcrowded camps that have horrific living standards.
There is an immigration solution that has succeeded before. If you look back up into the essay you can see that I talk about immigrants from Central America, and that’s because most immigrants come from there. But that was not always the case. Most of the immigrants used to come from Mexico, and Americans needed a solution. What they ended up doing is helping Mexico become a country that people want to stay in. People can find jobs and live life somewhat peacefully in Mexico.
The words of one man has created chaos on the border. In news of a border wall is making a influx of immigrates trying to get in at the last second. Our border security cannot handle the influx because the government is too busy squabbling about the wall to care about the other parts of border security. And in the middle of this, it’s not murderers and rapist that get hurt, it’s families and children trying to live a better life.
