Jussie Smollett Case Dropped!?

Jussie Smollett who is black and gay, told the authorities that he was attacked in January by two men who yelled homophobic and racial slurs at him, tied a rope around his neck, poured a chemical substance on him, and yelled “This is MAGA country”. A few weeks later, he was arrested by the police who claimed he had staged the assault and falsely reported it. Initially there was an outpouring of support for Mr. Smollett but as the story turned, so did public sentiment. Mr. Smollett, who denied the allegations, was charged with 16 orders of disorderly conduct, but on Tuesday, the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office dropped all charges against Mr. Smollett. Ms. Foxx wrote that there were “specific aspects of the evidence and testimony presented” that made securing a conviction uncertain. She did not elaborate.

Jussie Smollett is a criminal! This is completely unacceptable because it paves the way for further corruption within our justice system. God forbid a straight white male ever did something of this magnitude, the mainstream media and leftist organizations would never let it go and even blame the president for the criminal’s behavior. The side effects go way beyond the naked eye. Not only is distrust invoked within the justice system, but the American people are disgusted by the actions of a former credible person. Smollett’s liberal Hollywood privilege allowed him to go from 16 felonies to complete freedom with no charges. The mayor and police superintendent of Chicago still believe he was guilty and were ultimately alarmed at the decision to drop all charges. The police even said investigators had more than enough evidence for Smollett’s convictions. A crime is a crime, it should have the same consequences for every individual and not vary from person to person. As part of the judging process, it was believed that Jussie already received enough punishment and embarrassment from the public eye…this is not how the justice system is supposed to operate. Eddie Johnson, police superintendent, bashed Smollet for his ludicrous claims and for wasting police resources. “Nothing has changed other than the fact that this guy got to the state’s attorney’s office somehow and they worked out a back door deal that threw the mayor and the police department under the bus. Period,” said Former Philadelphia police commissioner Charles Ramsey. Our justice system needs to offer equality in its prosecution of criminals, whether it be the ideal puppet figure of hollywood or a straight white trump supporting male, bias must be eliminated as well as payoffs.
