MY GREIVENCES WITH THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY.
These are a well formatted list of reasons why I, myself, will never label myself as a democrat and encourage others to join me. I by no means call myself a republican, either, but in almost all cases there is a greater of two evils. This does not dive into much of current day policy, as I will get to that in a different article. This is primarily set to focus on the injustice and underlying patriarchy that exists within the Democratic party.
The Democratic party was and still is completely racist.
Historically speaking, we can go back to the civil war to find the roots of the bipartisan issues. The Republican party, founded by Lincoln, had a primary focus of pushing civil rights and abolishing slavery. The democratic party was primarily in the south and Republicans in the north.
Many people perpetuate the idea that the parties switched in order to push the agenda that “the republican party was always racist in history and still is to this day”. Nothing could be further from the truth.
So, where does this myth come from? It comes from the fact the a democratic president signed the civil rights act, so all the racists moved to the republican party because they hated the bill and all good people moved over to the democratic party. The two things that give this myth some ground is that “Whites in the south who used to vote democrat now vote republican” and “Blacks who used to vote republican now vote democrat”.
Falsifying this myth, the black voting trend began to move towards the democratic party in the 1930’s. This was because FDR introduced his New Deal Plan which offered a lot of programs for the impoverished. Because the Great Depression was occurring at this time, and a fundamental idea of Republicans is to “not mess with the economy”, everyone thought something was better than the nothing of the republican party. Although the New deal helped black people, it also discriminated against them as white people got the first pick at a job and that blacks got paid less. Again, this was the Great depression, so the idea that anyone could get a job was better than nothing.
Although most blacks started voting democrat, they resented the fact that they now had to vote for the party that was imbed with the Klan and Jim Crow laws. This was the party famous for the Klanbake in the 1920’s, the party of lynching laws, the party of Bull Connor, the party of Orval E. Faubus who blocked the Little Rock nine from attending school. The economic benefits obtained from siding with the Democratic party were much better than the nothingness of the Republican party. You aren’t going to see any social security benefits or welfare benefits from the Republican party. That’s just not something the platform is into. This isn’t to say they are wrong for not granting any benefits, because there’s research that shows the New Deal actually extended the Great Depression for 7 years.
Moving forward to the signing of the Civil Rights act in 1964, this was for the most part a great thing for blacks living in America. However, it was signed by a democrat, so as you would expect he added some racism into the mix. Lyndon Baines Johnson was a bitter and committed racist. He hated black people. He actually opposed the Civil Rights Act for 20 years. It was JFK who championed the Civil Rights Act and he was slaughtered in the streets of Dallas. LBJ said “I hope I don’t have to give these people the right to vote”. LBJ was tasked with a problem, he saw Martin Luther King Jr., a Republican, marching the streets and gaining a lot of traction. Lyndon Baines Johnson now has a problem. With overwhelming Republican support in congress the Civil Rights Act is probably going to pass.
He decides that if the bill is going to pass, it is going to pass his way. He thinks “My hatred for Blacks remains the same, but they will probably get the right to vote.” He decides that if Black people are voting, they should be voting for him. He decides in order to do this he will get them committed to the welfare state, he will cluster them geographically, deteriorate their family, introduce drugs into the inner cities, not police them, subsidize single motherhood, and “I’ll have these N*****s voting democrat for the next 200 years”. Direct quote in the presidential record.
It truly amazes me the awful things that African Americans have endured and continue to endure in this country thanks to this political party. Rather than controlling the bodies of Black people as seen with slavery, they now control their political thinking to an extent. Giving there are Black democrats who understand the policies of their party and recognize the past, more often then not I have spoken about politics to an African American and they do not truly understand the parties policies and history. It seems like to me they vote this way because they are TOLD to vote that way by society (This is objectively speaking and not actually fact based. I included this because I like everything I write to be true and backed by facts, so I will call out anything that isn’t).
Today, the democratic party is still obsessed with race. They practically own most of the news media outlets and they constantly spew race driven content. They cannot leave it alone! It is like our race defines us as person and is the leading factor that we all must focus primarily on. Like I wrote in a previous article, we cannot focus on “race integration” or “diversity” in order to become less of a race oriented society. We must look past the color of skin and onto the actual character, which is what defines us as people. This isn’t to say diversity is bad, but focusing on it and meeting a sort of quota with how many people of a certain race you need is no way to go about solving race issues. Can we just all be people and let us all earn our way as equals without giving certain benefits to a certain race. In all actuality we are people. No one should have a systematic advantage.
